Game rules

We chose to make a game called Yut because we couldn't think of another game and then Evan said we should make this game. I wrote the instruction down and I helped color the game and the I helped color the people. Harmony was used with the repetition of circles and the circles are forms of patterns. There was more unity than varity in the circles but in color there was a big diffence in variety. With balance it was symmetrical and it was a horizontal game. We did use the same proportions as the original game but we changed the "horses" to humans. The middle of the game board draws my towards it because it's brighter to me but other then that everything seems equal because of all of the circles. My eyes move from circle, to circle, and  across the board because of the lines connecting the circles and the diffent colors. I think we made the game pretty simple because for  the game is already pretty simple and it's also based on luck and if you roll the right numbers.

Favorite Daily Objects Sketches

Day 20

Day 12

Day 23

Day 21

Day 19

Day 20 - I liked this sketch because I like super man and I put him in an apple that created a super apple.

Day 12 - I did this sketch when I was doing my owl art project and I couldn't think of an ideas so I choose to draw an owl and make it red and I thought that was cool.

Day 23 - I couldn't think of an idea so I chose to make a cyborg/cyclops apple and I thought it was cool because of the eye.

Day 21 - I liked this this sketch because the apple got 1st place in an apple competition.

Day 19 - This one was one of the weird ones that I found on the Internet so I chose to sketch it and it came out like that and I thought it looked cool.

Overall I think that the daily object sketches did help me in drawing and it made me think about what I would draw next. I only missed one daily object sketch and that was the last one but I did it the next day. I enjoyed the object sketches will we had them and it was fun to see other people sketches too.

Favorite Art Journals 12/17/14

1st art peice "What animal would you be"
2nd art peice "What's in your future?"

I like the first art piece because I could choose an animal that I wanted to and this was a fun one to do all together.

I also liked the second piece because I could talk about what I wanted to be when I am older and have a job.

When we first started the art journals I would write the words in a word counter and it would take a long time to write out. But now since I have been doing it for awhile it's sometimes fun but it still took a while.

Who am I? 12/15/14

Six project sketches

This is the art work that inspired me and it is a painting/dot art

Half-way photo

Finished project

On my moms side my great grandmother was almost 100% or 100% Cherokee Indian and my moms side of the family has been in the US for centuries but, my dads side has only been here for decades. Most of my dads family that is alive right now we're born in Haiti and that's were my dad was born. My great grandfather was Polish and the other great grand father was Syrian. When we traced our family lineage on my moms side it went all the way back to a king of Russia but that was when Russia was small and spilt up. This project showed art that I have never seen befor from my ancestors cultures and most of them were pretty cool.

I chose this project because of the man in the horse. In that original art peice everything looked like dots and I thought it looked cool and it symbolizes my culture and my lineage. I added a flag, moon, sword, shield, axe, and a totem pole to represent all of my past cultures. If I did have to change somthing in my last peice it would be the sheild because it's to low and I would want to move it higher.
Overall I learned from this peice that some of my cultures were artistic and good at making art

I didn't really use texture as much because if you touch the paper you wouldn't really fell anything. I used tone on the totem pole and I also used a sort-of hatching on the totem pole. For color pallets I mostly used primary because a lot of the objects ha drastic colors that express them fairly well, and secondary because of the green on the totem pole and I used it to add color to the totem pole. This art peice doesn't have harmony but it does have variety because of the objects and it is asymmetrical. It is two-demensinal and it seems as if there is more negative space in the art work because all of the objects are spread apart. Line was used to show cross-countour and contour.

Artist Critique

The person that I am critiquing is dominic ciasca and he recreated Starry Night the original artist was Vincent Van Gogh. When I first looked at his art work the thing that catches my eye the most is the greenish/brownish tower thing and I think it stands out because they are complementary colors and the colors go good together and it's shape and size just stands out to me. I think what leads my eyes the most is the blue swirls because I look at the tower then I look at blue swirls in the sky then I look at the Death Star. I think that the meaning in this picture is that when he was thinking of something to do he thought of Star Wars and he incorporated it into Starry Night and it showed the moon as the Death Star.

If I could name the art work I would name it "A fallen empire" because this was art work has the second Death Star that also failed. Dark blue was used to make it look like it was night, green and brown were used on the tower, gray was used for the Death Star and the shield generator, and green was used for the grass and I think he used those colors to give it a more life like picture. I think that the colors are life like and they signify that this art work is on an earth like world. I think he chose this art work because it looks cool and a lot of people recreated it in unique ways and he wanted to do something that incorporated Star Wars and with art piece it would look good. In the end I think that he did a great job in recreating it but if we had more time it would be cool if he had painted it like the original piece.

Artists statement color project 10/19/14

Owl picture by Valtteri Laine

6 project sketches

Half-way picture

Final picture

The person art work that I choose name is Valtteri Laine I think I found him online and it says he's from Finland and he is the head of art at Nitro Games. I found his art work when we got all of the options for the type of art and I put surrelism art and a lot of cool art work came up and I chose this one. On the website where he posted his art he said it was a personal painting featuring a couple of my weird surrealistic visions. I also chose this picture because it's kind of dark and mysterious like he's lost in a world were he doesn't belong. It's also eye catching because the owls face is shattered so he's blind to everything.

I made this project because one I really liked the art and two I wanted to change it and put a little twist on it. I kind of relate to this art sometimes because it feels like everything is empty. If I could remake this again I would try to spend more time on sketching it. I learned that I still can't draw or paint good and that if I want to do somthing better I need to practice. I also made this peice because it stood out from the rest of the other art.

I put the owls wings up, added a helmet, and changed the colors. The color palettes I used were primary, secondary, and tertiary. For the style and technic I didn't make the painting shadowy I made it with sharper sides and brighter colors and to me when the colors are brighter it kind of brings a sense of joy or happiness. For the Materiels I sketched  the owl, tree limb, sun, and leaf with a pencil then I painted it with water colors. For the mediums I used paper and I chose paper because if I messed up I could get another one.
